Roma are now in a three-way fight for Mason Greenwood with Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce, with reports Olympique Marseille will accept €46m.
The wide attacker has long been considered the ideal reinforcement by Giallorossi coach Gian Piero Gasperini, especially after qualifying for the Champions League, but the €50m asking price has proved to be a stumbling block.

Greenwood battle gets more complicated

They had been up against Fenerbahce, who were ready to offer far more in terms of wages with €7m per season compared to €5m, but less than Roma for the transfer fee.
Over the last 24 hours, things have been shaken up by multiple sources including L’Equipe claiming that Atletico Madrid are in talks with Greenwood too.

The Spaniards would be able to comfortably beat both Roma and Fenerbahce proposals, but only if they first sold either Julian Alvarez or Alexander Sorloth.
Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà now reports that Olympique Marseille’s financial problems are forcing them to re-evaluate their expectations, so would accept €40-42m fixed fee plus a further €5-6m in add-ons.
With three clubs now involved in the transfer battle, the decision might ultimately be up to Greenwood, who is reportedly not happy at being pushed out of the door by Marseille.
The Ligue 1 club has little choice, though, as their dire financial situation means a big sale is necessary, even if 40 per cent of it will go to his former club Manchester United.
