Golf VX Creator Cup Targets a Bigger Role for Indoor Golf

Golf VX has chosen Presidents Cup week to make a case for its Arlington Heights lounge as a place capable of carrying an entire golf event. On Sept. 24, 2026, 44 Chicago-area golf creators are scheduled to compete across 11 teams in The Creator Cup while the Presidents Cup begins at Medinah Country Club.

Golf VX is using that timing to direct a share of the week’s attention toward a local field. The company has partnered with The 312 Invitational, named for Chicago’s 312 area code, and will use a live draft to build the teams before the players enter the simulator bays. Captains, full rosters, the competition format and other programming have not yet been announced.

“The Presidents Cup presents an incredible opportunity to celebrate golf in Chicago, and we wanted to create an event that brings together the people helping shape how the game is experienced and shared locally,” Golf VX founder and CEO Kyu Choi said in the event announcement.

The competition has to command the room. One close match or one shot that turns every head toward the same simulator bay will say more about the day than another slow pan across the lounge.

A Creator Event Needs a Competition

The live draft is the most useful piece of the concept so far. Golf VX could have assigned teams privately and opened the doors on tournament day. Drafting the rosters live creates decisions, loyalties and disagreements before the first simulated shot. It also gives each captain some ownership of what happens later.

Each participant will arrive with an audience and an individual way of covering golf. The Golf VX release says the event is intended to give them a place to compete, collaborate and produce original content. A draft and team structure give that content a common starting point without requiring every participant to tell the same story.

Golf VX describes the invitees as many of Chicago’s leading golf content creators. With the roster still unannounced, that claim cannot yet be evaluated. The names will show whether the field reflects a broad range of local golf voices or comes from a narrower circle.

Golf VX has not released the scoring rules. When the first poor shot arrives, watch the player who hit it. The quick look toward a teammate is usually the giveaway in team golf because the miss no longer belongs to one person.

The Arlington Heights Lounge Is Part of the Story

Golf VX describes a system built around high-speed ball tracking, dynamic swing plates that adjust for uneven lies, automatic teeing, touchscreen controls, virtual courses and detailed shot data. Those features address the golf side of the room. The Creator Cup will test everything around them.

A 44-player event asks a facility to manage waiting, viewing, food and beverage, movement between bays and the rhythm of competition. Golf VX has put those needs into its lounge model, pairing the simulators with gathering spaces and full-service hospitality. On Sept. 24, the company will have to make those pieces work together rather than simply list them.

The supplied interior photograph makes the physical bet easier to see. Simulator bays, tables and a bar share one open room. The layout allows players who are waiting to remain near the golf instead of disappearing into another part of the building. The harder work will be keeping 11 teams oriented as groups move in and out of the bays.

Only part of the 44-player field can hit at once. Once conversations start and cameras come out, the next group can be easy to lose in the room. Golf VX has to know who is on deck and move those players into place before a bay sits empty.

One well-run day would give Golf VX practical evidence for its private-event pitch. The company says the Arlington Heights location can handle leagues, corporate outings, private gatherings and special events. The Creator Cup is a public chance to show how that claim holds up under a live draft, team play and a building full of people whose work is to notice what happens around them.

Sept. 24 Gives Golf VX an Opening

The Creator Cup will be played Sept. 24, the first day of Presidents Cup competition at Medinah. Golf VX is putting its own event into a week when Chicago-area golf will already have an audience. The release does not claim an official connection between the two events.

Golf VX has kept the remaining pieces local. The venue is in Arlington Heights, the partner carries the 312 name and the field is being drawn from Chicago-area creators. The company could have assembled a broad list of recognizable online names. Building around the local community gives the event a reason to exist beyond the dates on the calendar.

The unanswered details will now shape its competitive identity. Team captains, participants, the competition format and programming are still to come. Those decisions will show whether the draft is a genuine part of the contest or simply an opening ceremony, and whether the 11 teams have a format that can be followed from the first match through the finish.

Golf VX can arrange the room and hand 44 creators a schedule. What happens after the live draft will decide whether their posts are mainly about the venue or about a competition people want to see again.
