Spots remain open in the 29th annual Charles “Red” Ash Memorial Golf Scramble.

Foursomes will tee off in a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Spring Valley, which, for many years, has been Canton South High School’s home course since it opened in the 1960s.

Ash, who spent the vast majority of his decades-long career at Canton South, retired in 1978 as the winningest high school basketball coach in Ohio history. The school gym is named after him.

The event is a benefit for the Charles “Red” Ash Scholarship fund. Entry is $100 per player and includes 18 holes for the scramble foursomes, lunch at the turn, beverages during the day, and appetizers at a post-golf awards social. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

The public is welcome. Those with questions can call 330-493-0010.
