DETROIT LAKES — The New London-Spicer boys golf team put together a ninth-place finish in the two-day, 16-team Northwest Classic on Saturday at the Detroit Country Club.

After shooting a 312 on Friday, the Wildcats carded a 323 for a two-day score of 635.

Cretin-Derham Hall won with a two-day total of 585, followed by Edina with 597 and Detroit Lakes with 603.

NLS’ top golfer was Max Truscinski. The seventh-grader shot a 77 on Friday and 79 on Saturday for a total of 156. That was good for 27th place.

CDH’s Sam Udovich secured medalist honors with a 140. He shot an even-par 71 on Friday and a two-under 69 on Saturday.

NLS plays in a Wright County Conference meet at 10 a.m. Monday at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.

Lakeville South Minnewaska Invite

Lakeville South wound up the winner and Minnewaska placed third at the Lakeville South Minnewaska Invitational at Minnewaska Golf Club

Lakeville South led after Day 1 compiling scores of 307 and 306 to take first place with a total of 613. Rogers finished second after shooting 319 and 306 to total 625 and Minnewaska had 321 and 327 to wrap up with a 648. New London-Spicer shot 345 and 347 to take sixth at 692.

Rogers’ Brandon Yabandith earned medalist honors, shooting 76 and 68 to take first place with a 144. Lakeville South’s Zach Havron, who shot 78 and 71 to total 149, was second and Minnewaska’s Thatcher Sherlin placed third with rounds of 73 and 78 to finish at 151.
