Jim Furyk is joining Golf Channel as a lead analyst.
Furyk, 55, is set to join play-by-play commentator Terry Gannon in the booth for next week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, working both Thursday and Friday coverage at Bay Hill as well as the weekend lead-ins before the broadcast moves to NBC. Additionally, Furyk will work extended coverage of the Players Championship the following week.

A source familiar with the situation said this will be a trial run for Furyk, with the potential to contribute to more events as the season progresses.
“I’ve spent my career competing on the PGA Tour and it will be fun to put the headset on and look at the game from an entirely different perspective,” Furyk said in a release. “I’ve built great relationships with the Golf Channel on-air team and producers over the years and I’m looking forward to working alongside them and sharing my perspective with viewers across the country for these signature events.”
Furyk won 17 times on the PGA Tour, highlighted by capturing the 2003 U.S. Open at Olympia Fields. He is the only player to card a 58 in tour history, doing so at the 2016 Travelers Championship. In recent years Furyk has served as captain on the American Ryder Cup and President Cup teams.
Kevin Kisner will not be impacted by the move, according to a source familiar with the matter. Kisner is now in his third season as lead analyst for NBC Sports after the network did a year-long tryout for Paul Azinger’s position.
The move follows Golf Channel bringing back Roger Maltbie, who spent 30 years with NBC Sports, as part of a five-tournament deal.
