Don’t worry, Giants fans. QB Tommy DeVito isn’t going anywhere.
New York announced Saturday that they’ve re-signed DeVito for the 2025 season, keeping the New Jersey native close to home.
DeVito, better known among the fan base as Tommy Cutlets, originally signed with Big Blue ahead of the 2023 season as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse and Illinois. He’s appeared in 12 games with eight starts over the last two seasons, completing 65.3 percent of his passes for 1,358 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
The 26-year-old owns a 3-5 record over his eight starts, notably going 3-3 during the 2023 season following Daniel Jones‘ season-ending ACL injury. He went 0-2 as the starter in 2024.
During a 3-0 stretch in 2023, DeVito became the first undrafted free agent rookie since 1970 to have three consecutive games with a passer rating higher than 100.
DeVito was set to be an exclusive rights free agent, meaning the Giants had the option to offer him a one-year, league-minimum contract. DeVito was not going to be able to negotiate with other teams if the Giants offered him a new deal. Luckily, both sides were able to come to an agreement.
The Don Bosco Prep alum is expected to compete for the backup QB job, but GM Joe Schoen still needs to figure out who the starting quarterback will be. It’s been rumored that the team is interested in veteran Aaron Rodgers.
