Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers had an incredible rookie season but could not distinguish himself when the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award was named Thursday night at the NFL Honors.
Nabers finished fifth in voting, garnering 30 votes — four third-place votes, 13 fourth place and 13 fifth-place votes. The award went to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Aside from Daniels, Nabers was up against some tough nominees this season. Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers finished second with Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr. finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Despite not winning, Nabers had a fantastic first season in the league. The sixth overall pick was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team and was named to the 2025 Pro Bowl as an injury replacement.
He also broke the Giants’ single-season receptions record with 109. Nabers finished with 1,204 receiving yards, the ninth-highest in Giants history and the second most by a Giants rookie behind Odell Beckham Jr.’s 1,305 in 2014. Nabers’ seven receiving touchdowns is tied with Bobby Johnson (1984) for the fourth-highest by a Giants rookie.
Nabers was hoping to become just the fourth Giant to win the Rookie of the Year award. Lawrence Taylor was the first to win it in 1981, on the defensive side. Beckham Jr. took home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2014 and Saquon Barkley won four years later.
