George Kambosos Jr will return to world title contention this year, with his next opponent revealed Tuesday.

Following his win against fellow Australian Jake Wyllie, Kambosos will now get the chance to win another belt, taking on American Richardson Hitchins who holds the IBF Junior Welterweight Title.

The bout will take place in Madison Square Garden Theater, New York, the same location where Kambosos shocked the world when he took down Teofimo Lopez in 2021.

Kambosos to fight for IBF title

George Kambosos Jr will take on American Richardson Hitchins for the IBF Junior Welterweight title, according to The Ring.

The fight will take place on June 14 in America, held at the Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York.

It will be a home fight from Hitchins, a Brooklyn native, but Kambosos has history of his own in the Garden, the place where he defeated Teofimo Lopez to claim the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and The Ring lightweight titles nearly four years ago.

Hitchins is yet to be defeated in his professional career, currently 19-0 including seven knockouts, with one of these wins being against Australian Liam Paro en route to the IBF title.

For Kambosos, he returned to his winning ways earlier this year against late call-up fighter Jake Wyllie, following a tough loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko.

While the fight was initially scheduled for June 21, it was moved forward to accomodate the rematch of Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach, meaning a mid-June clash will decide if Kambosos can add another belt to his resume.
