  • Honda Heritage Parts offers reproduction parts for classic Honda and Acura vehicles.
  • The first model covered is the first-generation Acura NSX.
  • This is a global service under the Honda Heritage Works banner, which also handles restorations.

Honda has a division called Honda Heritage Works. Today, that group has two subdivisions devoted to restoring and maintaining classic Honda and Acura vehicles. And one of them is about to make first-generation Acura NSX owners very happy.

Honda Heritage Parts will begin selling new parts for older models. The first model on the docket is the first-gen NSX.

The goal is to keep these icons on the road and support the owners who cherish their rides. Honda will offer two different types of parts through this program: Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts and Honda Compatible Parts.

Genuine Reproduction Parts are parts built using the same materials and production methods as the original components. Honda Compatible Parts, however, are ones that have been redeveloped and can replace certain original parts that are no longer available.

While this program kicks off with the NSX, Honda says it’s evaluating other models from both sides of the family. There’s no pricing for the parts just yet, but parts offered through the program will be available to order at Acura dealers starting this summer.

If you have a desire to take your NSX to the ultimate level, however, the Honda Restoration service has you covered. At this time, the program only exists for Japan-market first-gen examples of the NSX. And it’s not cheap.

The basic restoration service does a full engine-out service on the car and replaces any parts that need replacing. Honda will replace suspension components, door parts that may be failing, and any weather seals as well.

This service starts just north of $70,000. For another $41,000, Honda will disassemble your car down to the body-in-white and repaint it. Want to do the interior too? That’s a bit over $23,000 based on current exchange rates. Expensive? Absolutely. But you’d basically have a brand-new, factory-prepped first-gen NSX.

Either way, it’s awesome to see Honda support its older models. It will be great to see the future vehicles added to this program, but the early NSX is a great place to start.

Motor1’s Take: We hope more manufacturers go this route to keep their classics on the road. Sure, there’s plenty of aftermarket support for lots of old cars. But there’s something a bit more special about using genuine automaker reproduction parts. The fit is likely to be better, the quality will be backed by the automaker, and it could make your vehicle more appealing when you go to sell it down the road.
