He didn’t spend much of his NHL career as a member of the Detroit Red Wings, but he made an indelible mark on one of their divisional rivals.
Former Red Wings goalie Jack Campbell, who spent his successful seasons in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs, has retired.
Campbell, who was taken in the first round (11th overall pick) of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars, eventually played for the Los Angeles Kings before being acquired by the Maple Leafs in 2020.

Eventually becoming an NHL All-Star, Campbell and the Maple Leafs would be eliminated in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2021 against the Montreal Canadiens and 2022 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Oilers later bought out the remainder of his contract, and he subsequently signed a one-year pact in Detroit for the 2024-25 NHL season.
He spent the majority of the campaign with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, with whom he went 5-7-1 with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage.
He leaves the game with a 93-52-18 record at the NHL level with a 2.76 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage, along with 10 shutouts.
