Jeff Skinner’s hockey career in the NHL might be over. At least, for the 2026-27 season, he’ll be playing overseas and not on one of the 32 NHL franchises.
The unrestricted free-agent winger signed a one-year contract with EHC Biel-Bienne in the Swiss league, the team announced Friday.
Oiler fans will know Skinner from his brief stint with the team during the 2024-25 season. He scored 16 goals and 29 points in 72 games. Given how little ice time he was offered under then-head coach Kris Knoblauch, it wasn’t a bad season. He also saw the only playoff action of his 16-season NHL career in Edmonton, playing in five games.

A six-time 30-goal scorer, Skinner was limited to 13 points in 32 games with the San Jose Sharks last season, averaging a career-low 12:21 per contest.
If this is the end of his NHL run, he finishes with 379 goals and 712 points in 1,110 games.
