The Philadelphia Flyers have waived Anthony Richard. I’ve been watching him live this season so I have a good idea what he can or can’t do. He is a different player in the AHL compared to the NHL. That’s not uncommon.

The Flyers liked Richard but they acquired Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier so it became a numbers game. This forward has excellent speed. He has a really solid burst. So with the right players, they can get the puck up the ice quickly. That’s the best part of his game.
The worst part of his game is finishing. He had six points in 15 games. He was getting power play time, sometimes on the top unit and he averaged 2:21. The Flyers power play is bad, but he had a lot of opportunities that he couldn’t cash in on as well. His shooting percentage was 10.5%, that’s low for any player and he’s not really a playmaking center when he plays in the NHL. He’s an NHL fill-in player and the Canadiens should let him pass through.
Another former Canadiens forward, Colin White was put on waivers today by the San Jose Sharks. White only got into three games with the Sharks. If you can’t crack their lineup then you have to work on your game. He once had promise but now he will likely pass through and play in the AHL once again.
I don’t see either of these players getting picked up by Montreal. They can afford to be pickier.
