  • The FedEx Cup Playoffs consist of three tournaments culminating in the TOUR Championship.
  • 70 players qualify for the playoffs based on FedEx Cup points accumulated throughout the PGA Tour season.
  • Rory McIlroy holds the record for most FedEx Cup Championships with three wins.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs brings an exciting atmosphere to the world of golf. Over three straight weekends, 70 players will be whittled down to one champion.

The playoffs will take place at three different courses. The starting field of 70 golfers will play the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. After Memphis, the bottom 20 players will be cut and 50 players will play the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland. The bottom 20 in Owings Mills will be eliminated and the final 20 will travel to Atlanta to play in the TOUR Championship for the FedEx Cup Championship.

The 70 players that participate in the playoffs are determined by their play over the PGA Tour thus far. Each tournament that a player participates in will give them a certain number of FedEx Cup points based on their position in the tournament.

In major tournaments such as the Masters, U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship, winners of those respective tournaments would earn 750 points in the FedEx Cup standings while others PGA Tour events winners earn 500 points.
