Federico Dimarco has won praise for his key assist for Moise Kean in Italy’s World Cup qualifying win over Estonia.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, praise the Inter Milan wingback as one of Italy’s outstanding performers. They also hail the “will and enthusiasm” of Francesco Pio Esposito.
Italy secured a hugely important victory over Estonia yesterday.
At risk of missing out on a third consecutive World Cup, the EURO 2020 winners needed to take three points.
Italy got off to just the right start. Fiorentina striker Moise Kean put the Azzurri ahead in the fourth minute. This courtesy of an assist from Inter wingback Federico Dimarco.
Then, Mateo Retegui doubled Italy’s advantage a few minutes before halftime.
Italy conceded a second half goal that introduced some major doubts. However, Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito came off the bench and scored his first ever goal for the national team to wrap up the victory.
Dimarco Praised For Kean Assist In Estonia 1-3 Italy
The Corriere dello Sport particularly highlight the performance of Inter wingback Federico Dimarco.
The 27-year-old’s assist for Kean was certainly an important moment early on in the match. It unlocked the result for Italy.
And this has been a familiar sight from Dimarco this season.
The Italian has enjoyed a very positive start to the campaign under Cristian Chivu. He has looked fit and fresh, and decisive in the final third.
This was certainly on display with Dimarco’s sharp display against Estonia yesterday, the Corriere argue.
Meanwhile, Dimarco’s Inter teammate Francesco Pio Esposito also won praise for his performance.
In the view of the Corriere, Pio Esposito showed excellent “will and enthusiasm” to impact the match off the bench.
