Fantasy Football: Hayden Winks’ last-minute full-PPR draft strategy

It’s time to directly address the 40% of leagues out there that play in full PPR. Today’s column will go over my top 120 overall rankings, plus some strategy and top targets.

Top 120 Overall

My PPR First Round

1. RB Jahmyr Gibbs: Given the chance, I’m choosing the No. 1 pick.

2. WR Puka Nacua: 23.8 PPR points per game were 3.4 more than the WR2 overall.

3. WR Ja’Marr Chase: WR1 on WR1 expected points in games with Joe Burrow healthy over the past 3 seasons.

4. RB Bijan Robinson: RB2 in receptions per game (4.6).

5. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba: WR2 on WR5 usage last year on league-high 35% targets.

6. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown: 3-straight seasons with both 10+ TDs and 115+ receptions.

7. RB Christian McCaffrey: 24.0 PPR points per game last year were most in the NFL.

8. RB Jonathan Taylor: 24.8 PPR points per game through Week 13 with Daniel Jones.

9. WR CeeDee Lamb: WR9 on WR9 usage last year with George Pickens. Positive TD luck coming.

10. WR Justin Jefferson: Most PPR points per game (20.1) among WRs from 2022-2024 if we remove the Josh Dobbs and Jaren Hall games.

11. RB De’Von Achane: RB6 per game over past two seasons when MIA was 25th in points.

12. RB Kenneth Walker III: My LeSean-McCoy-with-Andy-Reid senses are tingling.

Quarterback strategy

This is the position that takes the biggest hit going from half to full-PPR because … wait for it … they don’t pile up receptions (points per reception, folks). While extremely simple, the reality is leagues don’t factor this in enough. There should be a full round discount on all QBs here, and that includes Josh Allen up top. 

Allen should not be drafted in the first four rounds of full PPR drafts. 

The next crop of semi elite QBs shouldn’t go until Round 6 at the earliest.

And this year’s depth at QB goes well beyond the 12-team league starters. Kyler Murray, Jordan Love, Jared Goff, Jaxson Dart, Bo Nix and others are all legit low-end QB1 options who will be nearly free in drafts. The advice remains to double up in this tier and load up on a quality bench player at RB and WR before getting into the QB waters.

Sleepers at WR and TE

WR: Browns first-rounder KC Concepcion lit it up against SEC competition as a downfield and manufactured-touch threat. He was the best route runner in the class and has Jaylen Waddle-like explosiveness. He will be a great pro, and the Browns best weapon in no time. Coach Todd Monken said he’s a Zay Flowers-type of player, and he just coached Flowers to a top-20 season. Concepcion will be better than Flowers long term, in my opinion. … Matthew Golden is taking on the Packers’ Romeo Doubs role, one that turned in a WR37 finish on WR35 usage. Doubs wishes he had Golden’s juice. The 4.2-speed first-rounder will be a full-time player, as the Packers truly only have three receivers to play this season. His tape was better than given credit for as a rookie, and he’s been an MVP in camp. … Wan’Dale Robinson is going to do the same ‘ol Wan’Dale thing. He’s reunited with OC Brian Daboll, and the Titans’ preseason offense looked very RPO heavy, which plays to his short-area strengths. He is the favorite over Carnell Tate for receptions. They just won’t be pretty. They also weren’t last year, when he was the PPR’s WR17 on WR13 usage. … Makai Lemon is simply too great of a prospect to be nearly free in drafts. He’ll overtake the inconsistent Dontayvion Wicks for 2-WR sets eventually, and when that happens, Lemon will be a FLEX play in a usually top-12 offense. … Jordan Addison had WR22 and WR26 per-game finishes as a rookie and sophomore, before J.J. McCarthy ruined the party. He’s priced nowhere near that, and I think Kyler Murray is in the same tier as Sam Darnold and Kirk Cousins.

TE: Juwan Johnson will project best early on without first-round WR Jordyn Tyson, making him a great punt TE option or pairing with rehabbing stars, Tucker Kraft and George Kittle. Johnson was the TE5 in receptions and TE8 in yards per game after the Rashid Shaheed trade last year. … Terrance Ferguson is the mystery box on the Rams. Their lackluster WR depth and his second-round draft capital create an upside case worthy of a final-round pick. We’ll see in Week 1. … Dalton Schultz was the TE16 on TE11 usage last year with Jayden Higgins, while the Texans were a very mediocre offense. He’s a high-floor TE2.
