Matchroom Boxing have announced four huge UK shows during September to October featuring the tantalising heavyweight match between in-form Dave Allen and Russian Lion Arslanbek Makhmudov – live worldwide on DAZN.
September 6: Pat McCormack vs Miguel Parra
A big double header gets the schedule started on Saturday, September 6, with Team GB Olympic hero Pat McCormack headlining in his hometown at Sunderland Live against Mexican Miguel Parra.
Matchroom’s finest young talent fill the bill with Heavyweight sensation Leo Atang, Bantamweight wonderkids Tiah-Mai Ayton and Adam Maca, and Lightweight star Cameron Vuong, along with the pro debut of York Cruiserweight prospect, Brad Casey.
Plus, former WBO World Welterweight queen, Sandy Ryan takes on undefeated Jade Grierson, while English Super-Middleweight Champion Mark Dickinson puts his belt on the line for the first time against fellow North-East rival Troy Williamson.
Pat McCormack said, “This is a great test for me [against Miguel Parra]. I know I need to be sharp and switched on. But I’m really looking forward to boxing back in the North-East in what is another important step towards bringing world title fights back home.”
September 13: Lewis Crocker vs Paddy Donovan 2
The following week sees the historic all-Irish World Title showdown at Belfast’s Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park when Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan collide for the vacant IBF World Welterweight Championship on a blockbuster night that features the pro debut of Molly McCann, along with Cruiserweight sensation Pat Brown, as well as Ishamel Davis vs Caoimhín Agyarko.
October 11: Dave Allen vs Arslanbek Makhmudov
October kickstarts with a monumental Heavyweight dust-up as the ‘Cinderella Man’ Dave Allen takes centre stage at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena where the WBA Inter-Continental Heavyweight ruler defends his title against a 6ft 5½ in beast from the East in Arslanbek Makhmudov.
‘The White Rhino’ Dave Allen said, “I’m buzzing to headline Sheffield’s Utilita Arena. It’s always been a dream of mine. I’m a big boxing fan and I’ve seen the likes of Prince Nasem Hamed, Kell Brook and Dalton Smith top the bill there over the years. So for me to have my name up there headlining at what is practically my home arena is amazing. And with that, I wanted to have the biggest fight possible.
“In Arslanbek Makhmudov I think it really is the biggest test available. He looks the part. He’s had some very good wins and he has a high world ranking. A win over him will put me right up there on the world stage. It might be a shot to nothing. And I might go in as the underdog. But I’m up for it. It’s one last shot at the big time for me.”
‘The Russian Lion’ Arslanbek Makhmudov added, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to face a true warrior like David Allen on October 11. I know he won’t shy away from going to war with me. But enough talk — it’s time to hunt, and soon, it’ll be time to have my hand raised.”
October 17: Kieron Conway vs George Liddard
Only six days later, on Friday, October 17, a powder keg main event awaits at London’s iconic York Hall, where Matchroom Boxing returns to the legendary East End venue for the first time since December 2019.
Northampton’s Kieron Conway bids to extend his streak of five successive victories when he takes on the undefeated, rising Middleweight star George Liddard for the British & Commonwealth Championships.
Kieron Conway commented, “This fight genuinely excites me more than any of my previous fights because George has shown a little bit too much arrogance and I genuinely don’t like him so fully intend to show that and show that this is a step too far, too soon for him.”
George Liddard stated, “I’m really excited for this. These are the nights I was destined for. As a kid, this was everything I dreamed of so I’m going to make this happen, for sure. It’s a big night with the British & Commonwealth title on the line. I want to thank God, my team, and everybody who has helped me get this opportunity. I’m not going to let anybody down. I’m coming for those straps.”
Matchroom Sport chairman Eddie Hearn: “We are proud to deliver a brilliant line-up – all available on DAZN. There are some huge fights to look forward to – Pat McCormack headlining in his hometown; Kieron Conway and George Liddard going head-to-head; and perhaps none more bigger than Dave Allen against Arslanbek Makhmudov. To be honest, I think Dave is absolutely mad for taking this fight! In fact, he might just be one of the strangest men I’ve ever met.
“I gave him a list of very good fighters – he chose the biggest puncher and the most dangerous one of the whole list! I know we will see the best version of Dave Allen for this though. He’s motivated. He’s prepared to put everything and more into this one. It’s high risk, high reward. If he beats this guy then I expect him to get a massive seven-figure fight off the back of it.
“It will be an all-out war and Sheffield’s Utilita Arena will be absolutely rocking. As will Sunderland Live on September 6 and, of course, the iconic York Hall on October 17, where we return for the first time in six years. We’re taking our fight nights across the country and fight fans are in for a real treat over the coming months.”
