The NASCAR Cup Series continues its run to the playoffs with the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 on July 20 at Dover Motor Speedway.
Denny Hamlin is the defending race winner, and he’ll be happy enough to be away from the pack-racing and road course tracks this weekend.
It’ll be a three-pronged focus across the field, including the regular-season championship race, the playoff cutline and the semifinals of the in-season tournament.
Here are The Tennessean’s expert picks for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover:
NASCAR predictions for Cup Series Dover race: Here’s who wins the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400
Mike Organ’s pick: Kyle Larson, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
It has not been a typical Kyle Larson year, even though he did win two of the first 10 races. He’s struggled at times since attempting the double and still has time to turn things back around with a win at Dover.
Nick Gray’s pick: Alex Bowman, No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet
Bowman has a win and three top-10 finishes in his last three races at Dover, and this is a key race for Bowman in his quest to make the playoffs. HMS surely knows this too, so expect the No. 48 to max out on Sunday.
Austin Chastain’s pick: Tyler Reddick, No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota
It’s been an emotional week for 23XI Racing with the courts favoring with NASCAR and essentially taking away the charters for the team, along with Front Row Racing. Reddick is going to give his team something to celebrate this weekend with a big win at Dover.
Tom Kreager’s pick: Denny Hamlin, No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota
The best way to distract from everything going on with NASCAR and 23XI Racing is for Hamlin to win. Hamlin picks up his second Dover win in three years.
