Former New York Rangers star Ron Duguay is out of the hospital after last week’s collapse and working to regain strength for his newest cancer treatment, his daughter announced.

Shay Thomas said last week on Instagram that the 12-year NHL veteran, who has been dealing with Grade 4 colon cancer that has spread to his liver, was taken to the hospital after fainting at his house, suffering facial injuries. She said doctors determined he had severe dehydration because he had been feeling sick and was having trouble eating.

Thomas provided a new update on Duguay, 69, after his release from the hospital.

“He still isn’t feeling his best or eating much, but he is taking it day by day, trying to get down some soup and slowly regain his strength,” she wrote.

“Our main focus is getting him strong enough to travel back to Orange County and return to City of Hope. His next treatment will be Bizengri, also known as zenocutuzumab-zbco, a targeted therapy that works by blocking certain signals that can help cancer cells grow. We are praying this will be the treatment his body responds to.”
