One of the greatest amateur events in the world begins next week in Augusta, Georgia.

The seventh Augusta National Women’s Amateur tees off Wednesday, April 1, with a champion being crowned on Saturday, April 4 at Augusta National Golf Club. The event has become the unofficial start of Masters week, with the best female amateurs in the world vying for a trophy on the storied grounds, which leads into the Drive, Chip & Putt Finals and eventually the 90th Masters.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur:

Augusta National Women’s Amateur format

A field of 72 will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided by sudden-death playoff. The first 36 holes will be contested at Champions Retreat Golf Club in nearby Evans, Georgia. Every player will complete a practice round at Augusta National Golf Club on Friday, April 3.

How to watch the Augusta National Women’s Amateur

  • Wednesday, April 1 – 1:30-3:30 p.m. ET on Golf Channel

  • Thursday, April 2 – 1:30-3:30 p.m. ET on Golf Channel

  • Friday, April 3 – Golf Channel’s Live From will begin broadcasting at Augusta National

  • Saturday, April 4 – 12-3 p.m. ET on NBC

What the ANWA winner receives

The Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateurs, the U.S. Women’s Open, the AIG Women’s Open, the Chevron Championship, the Evian Championship and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.

How did players qualify for ANWA?

The field for the 2026 Championship consists of the following players based on the following qualifications:

  1. Reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion

  2. Reigning Women’s Amateur Champion

  3. Reigning Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Champion

  4. Reigning Girls’ Amateur Champion

  5. Reigning U.S. Girls’ Junior Champion

  6. Reigning Girls Junior PGA Champion

  7. Reigning NCAA Division I Women’s Individual Champion

  8. Past champions of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur within the last five years

  9. The 30 highest ranked players from the United States of America based on the prior year’s (2025) final Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, not otherwise qualified

  10. After qualifications 1-8 above, the 30 highest ranked players not otherwise qualified, as listed on the prior year’s (2025) final Women’s World Amateur Ranking

  11. Players receiving special invitations from the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Committee
