Jack Grealish has been named the Premier League’s player of the month for August, marking the first time in his career he has won the award. The Everton winger turned 30 this week and has made a swift impact since arriving on loan from Manchester City.

Grealish has provided four assists in just two league starts, playing a key role in victories over Brighton and Wolves, after coming off the bench in the season opener at Leeds. That total is two more than any other player three matches into the campaign.

This recognition makes Grealish the first Everton player to win the award since Dominic Calvert-Lewin in September 2020. The England international has now made 193 Premier League appearances since debuting for Aston Villa in 2014, and has three league titles from his time at City.

Before joining Everton, Grealish had only twice provided two assists in the same Premier League game. He has now done so in back-to-back matches and could become the first player to achieve the feat in three consecutive fixtures when Everton host Aston Villa this Saturday.

Grealish topped an eight-man shortlist, winning after a combination of public votes and a panel of experts’ selections. His early-season form suggests Everton may have secured one of the most influential players of the month in recent memory.
