English club pull out of transfer chase for 12-goal Liverpool forward

Liverpool still have a lot of changes to come their way this summer.

Before the transfer window even opened, the Anfield outfit were expected to have a completely new-look team.

And, with Andoni Iraola at the helm, it felt like this was a chance for Liverpool to make it up to their fans after their terrible performance last term.

Indeed, they still managed to qualify for the Champions League so they at least had that going for them but, most people would have expected them to put up a much stronger fight to retain the Premier League title than they did.

So, with all of this in mind, it’s hardly surprising to see that several members of Liverpool’s first-team squad are now being linked with moves away.

But, for one Liverpool forward, his options to exit are starting to thin after one of the interested clubs in him have now been pulled out of the race by their manager.

Keyrol Figueroa is not going to be joining Shrewsbury this summer

Liverpool’s academy is widely regarded as one of the best in England.

Over the years, several players from their academy have managed to make it into Liverpool’s first-team squad with Steven Gerrard even being seen as one of the Premier League’s best ever player.

Recently, Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones have cemented their roles in the Reds’ starting XI but, since Jones could be exiting and Bradley always seems to be side-lined, it could be time for them to make way and for Liverpool to introduce some new youngsters to their ranks.

However, in order for this to happen, their academy players need some proper senior experience.

Several members of their squad have already been linked with moves away so that they can get some more experience under their belts.

However, for Keyrol Figueroa, it seems like he’s going to have to continue searching for a new club as Shrewsbury’s manager has now ruled them out of the chase for his transfer.

“No, I’m not sure where it’s come from [the rumours about Figueroa joining Shrewbury],” he said to the Shropshire Star.

“We’ve had conversations with numerous strikers. Some of the ones that are put to me, I genuinely haven’t got a clue.

“I just think the rumour mill on social media is out of control. I don’t go out of my way to look at it, but when it’s presented to me, I do find it laughable.

“I know the lad is a fantastic player. With the three we have got up top, he’s a bit similar to them. We’ll probably be going down a different route with the one that we’re going to bring in.

“So, no, news to me, unless the chairman’s decided he’s going to go and get someone from Liverpool.”

Liverpool must find a team for Keyrol Figueroa to play for next season

Figueroa is one of Liverpool’s most prolific youth forwards.

The 19-year-old has already made his senior debut for Honduras and, last season alone, the number nine bagged 12 goals for Liverpool’s youth ranks.

With the Reds’ current injury crisis in attack, some rumours were shared that claimed the Honduran could end up staying at Anfield this season to try and plug the gap before Hugo Ekitike returns.

However, with other attackers such as Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas having more experience under their belts, they’re the more likely players to stay put and feature for Iraola.

With this in mind, it’s clear that the Reds still need to find a home for Figueroa, especially if they want him to become their next striker.

It’s clear that the attacker has plenty of talent under his belt but, unless he’s given a chance to regularly play senior football, it’s hard to tell whether or not he’ll be able to meet expectations in the future.
