Jon Rahm would have been the favourite in the eyes of many heading into the final round of the PGA Championship, with the Spaniard just two shots off the lead at Aronimink.
Rahm reminded everyone of his quality at the second major of the year. The 31-year-old’s form has come under real scrutiny ever since he decided to join LIV Golf.

He had not actually finished inside the top five of a major championship since departing the PGA Tour in December 2023.
But that run ended in Philadelphia this past week.
What Edoardo Molinari noticed about Jon Rahm at the PGA Championship
Rahm ended up finishing in a tie for second. Had his putter been warmer on Sunday, he may well have moved to within an Open Championship victory of completing the Career Grand Slam.
Obviously, Rahm’s form on LIV Golf has been extremely impressive. He has won the individual title in both of his seasons with the league, while he already has two victories under his belt this year.

But speaking on the Sky Sports Golf Podcast, Edoardo Molinari said that Rahm reminded him of the player who hit arguably the two best shots at Bethpage last September.

“Jon wasn’t really contending, or contending as often as he should in the last two years. And last week he was probably in there. I thought when I saw him walking on the tee on Sunday, he had that look that he has in the Ryder Cup where it’s going to be difficult to beat,” he said.
“It’s great to see Jon playing some extremely good golf. This year even before the PGA he was playing extremely well all season on LIV, and hopefully we see a bit more of him in the next few months and next years as well.”

Molinari reacts to Jon Rahm reaching a deal with the DP World Tour
Rahm handed the European Ryder Cup team a big boost recently by reaching a deal with the DP World Tour that ensured that he could remain a member.
Previously, there had been some doubts over whether Rahm would be eligible to play for Europe at Adare Manor in 2027. But those concerns have been put to bed.
And Molinari suggested that it is a big boost for the Europeans to have Rahm available.
“We definitely need the best possible version of Jon Rahm in order to win another Ryder Cup. And obviously it was a very big relief for the whole team and everyone involved when he decided to be a member again and play. I think he’s going to be extremely helpful if he keeps playing the way he is,” he said.
