Opportunities often create revolutions.

Gian Piero Gasperini has identified a core of 16 players he can trust blindly, but his Europa League debut means rotation.

With Atalanta, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, it was a must: in European competitions, he would change at least four or five players between close matches in Serie A and European competitions.

The Giallorossi coach made it clear in his press conference that Roma must “increase rotation as much as possible.”

With around fifty matches on the horizon, the coach needs every player in the squad at his disposal.

A change of players could be expected as early as tonight: Artem Dovbyk will lead the attack, Kostas Tsimikas will make his starting debut, another opportunity for Devyne Rensch, and a second chance for Neil El Aynaoui.

Lorenzo Pellegrini is reportedly ready to play after his derby goal, but the coach ruled out the possibility in his press conference. “It’s clear he’s coming off a period of inactivity…”, so a mid-match introduction is more likely.

The 3-4-2-1 formation will be used again at the Allianz Riviera. Matias Soulé is assured of a spot behind the striker, with Stephan El Shaarawy a possible starting spot alongside him.

Manu Koné is in excellent form, and Bryan Cristante could be rested in midfield to make room for the Moroccan, who, in his press conference regarding his eight goals last season, said: “I hope to repeat that.”
