Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez, the top target ahead of the MLB trade deadline, may have just gone down. Suárez, who is considered the top player on the trade market, exited Monday’s game against the Detroit Tigers after being hit in the hand by a pitch.
In the top of the ninth inning, Suárez was hit in the left hand by Tigers closer Will Vest, with the force causing his helmet to fly off. The third baseman knelt down, grabbing at his hand, before eventually leaving the game. Blaze Alexander ran in his place.
Arizona was losing 5-1 at the time. Vest notched the next two outs, and Detroit won the game.
