Daytona International Speedway is one of the few race tracks in the country that hosts multiple NASCAR races and the track is an institution all to itself. As the end of the 2026 season approaches, NASCAR is making a few schedule changes to 2027 at Daytona.
According to FOX NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass, the Clash preseason race will be returning to Daytona on Saturday, February 13, with the Daytona 500 set to take place on February 21. The summer race at Daytona will be the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on August 28.

There will, of course, be races for the other NASCAR circuits leading up to the big Cup Series races.
“In addition to announcing the Clash as Saturday night Feb. 13, Daytona also announces its 2027 summer date as August 27-28 (so for those wanting to go back to Daytona for July 4 weekend, that’s not happening in 2027),” Pockrass wrote on X.
No 4th?
Some fans expressed disappointment that NASCAR wouldn’t move its summer race at Daytona to the Fourth of July. But others were simply glad to see the Clash back for the first time in six years.

“If they can’t do Daytona, why can’t 4th of July weekend be at like Atlanta?” one user asked on X.
“San Diego maybe on July 4th?” another mused.
“Clash needs to stay at Daytona for eternity. No Los Angeles, no Bowman Gray, stays right here,” wrote a third.

From 1959 to 2019, there was a NASCAR race at Daytona on or around Independence Day almost every single year. That changed in 2020 when NASCAR decided to move the race to Road America and later Atlanta Motor Speedway and has not returned to Daytona since.

Daytona fans are clearly still pretty annoyed that their beloved track isn’t the host to their favorite sport on America’s birthday. But perhaps one day it will return.
