Dale Earnhardt Jr. mocked a fake quote attributed to him on social media.
A Facebook account intentionally spread misinformation by falsely claiming Earnhardt Jr. said Bubba Wallace should “shut up and get out of NASCAR.” The post, when screenshotted on Monday afternoon, alarmingly had 288 likes and comments from fans duped by the lie who supported the fabricated comments.

Earnhardt confirmed he never said that by joking about the situation on X.
“Man these fake posts get wild,” Earnhardt wrote.
Wallace’s strong 2026 start stalled at Darlington

The gullibility of social media users might be funny if the ramifications weren’t so steep.
Some NASCAR fans on Facebook may still believe that Earnhardt actually implored Wallace to leave the sport. One commentator appeared to encourage the sport to go back to displaying Confederate flags, which NASCAR banned from all events in 2020 at the behest of Wallace, the Cup Series’s only Black driver.

Wallace isn’t likely to take a parody account’s fake advice. The 32-year-old is third in this season’s Cup Series standings despite still seeking his first victory of 2026.
Wallace has opened the year with four top-10 finishes in six races. However, he had his worst result when finishing 34th at Darlington on Sunday after a crash with Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones derailed his day on the 111th lap.
It was still a great week for Wallace. His wife, Amanda, gave birth to a baby girl, Cameron Jade, on Thursday.

Wallace promptly returned to the track that weekend and slipped one spot behind Ryan Blaney in the standings, which 23XI Racing teammate Tyler Reddick overwhelmingly leads with four victories. He’ll look to bounce back this Sunday afternoon in the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway.
