WEST POINT, Miss. — Cumberland’s men finishes third out of 17 teams at the BMCU Spring Classic at Old Waverly Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Phoenix had their highest round of the tournament posting a 302 to finish with a total 893 strokes through 54 holes. Dalton State won the tournament with a total of 863 strokes finishing 29-strokes ahead of Point in second place. Cumberland was one stroke behind the Skyhawks in third.

Patrick Chesnut finished tied for eighth place after shooting a 77 in the final round. Chesnut fired four birdies in his final round, but also had three bogeys and two triples on his round. Chesnut finished with a total of 218 strokes in the tournament.

Garrett McMellon posted the best round of the day shooting a one-over-par 73. McMellon posted a steady round with two birdies and three bogeys with 13 pars in his round. McMellon totaled 223 strokes tying for 19th place.

Joel Berry tied for 24th place after shooting a three-over 76 in his final round to finish with 225 total shots. Berry played the front-nine under par with three birdies and two bogeys before shooting a 41 on the back.

Kalle Martinen posted a six-over 78 in his final round. He posted 13 pars four bogeys and one double in his round. Martinen finished with 229 strokes to tie for 37th place.

Bailey Rousseau shot a 76, one stroke better than his first two rounds, to finish tied for 42nd with 230 strokes. Rousseau had one birdie in his round with five bogeys to finish five-over.

Andrew Lena posted an 84 in his final round to finish in 87th place with 253 strokes.

Cumberland will be in action next at the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca on March 31-April 1 in Hermitage.
