It feels as good as it sounds.

Crimil’s Dagger, one of Destiny 2‘s most beloved hand cannons, is back, and with a couple of coveted perks in god rolls, especially if you want to dominate the Crucible.

This returning Iron Banner hand cannon continues to be an excellent choice for PvP in particular. Crimil’s Dagger is deadly in its own right, and it doesn’t have that much competition in the realm of 120 RPM hand cannons apart from the classic Igneous Hammer.

Here are the god rolls for Crimil’s Dagger in both PvE and PvP in Destiny 2.

What is the Crimil’s Dagger god roll in Destiny 2?

Crimil’s Dagger PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Smallbore
  • Magazine: Tactical Mag
  • Perk one: Air Trigger or Outlaw
  • Perk two: Explosive Payload
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

Crimil’s Dagger PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Perk one: Slideways
  • Perk two: Precision Instrument
  • Masterwork: Range

120 RPM hand cannons aren’t exactly hot in PvE. They are too slow and clunky at dealing with adds. It’s much easier to get a 140 RPM hand cannon, like Exalted Truth or Midnight Coup, with AoE perks or even One for All to make up for the damage.

Crimil’s Dagger also doesn’t have many decent PvE perks. In the third column, you need a perk to help with reloading, as the base reload speed is incredibly slow. Air Trigger or Outlaw are both solid options, with Air Trigger only requiring a small jump to work. Strategist can work if you need extra class ability energy, but the cost of not running a reload perk on Crimil’s Dagger is a hefty tradeoff.

In the fourth column, there’s Explosive Payload for 15 percent extra damage. You could also go for a perk like Precision Instrument to increase single-target damage, but you must be confident in your shots, as the buff resets if you miss.

Where Crimil’s Dagger truly shines is in PvP. It’s one of the most popular hand cannons, and if you plan on playing Crucible or Trials of Osiris anytime soon, you need a Crimil’s in your back pocket. You can get to 91 range with the right roll, and this weapon is truly deadly.

The go-to PvP combination on Crimil’s Dagger is Slideways with Precision Instrument. Slideways partially reloads the mag when sliding and grants increased stability and handling for three seconds. This removes the main downside of 120 RPM hand cannons—slow reload speed.

Precision Instrument in the fourth column grants increased crit damage as long as you don’t miss. The perk allows for extra forgiveness in gunfights and can even allow you to bring down the optimal TTK down to 0.5 seconds against Guardians with tier six Resilience and below if you manage to get five stacks.

Other notable perks include Adagio, which gives a 30 percent increase in damage, allowing you to get a kill with only two headshots when active. There’s also Explosive Payload, but its benefits are barely noticeable on this weapon.

How to get Crimil’s Dagger in Destiny 2

Crimil’s Dagger is available as a reward from Iron Banner. Play matches for a chance to get the weapon, and then use Iron Engrams to focus it at a 1:1 ratio. Weapon and Engram drops are more plentiful after matches, according to Bungie, even if you lose, so get ready to fight other guardians for a god roll of this weapon.

While playing Iron Banner, remember to equip Iron Banner armor pieces (or ornaments), weapons, and emblems for a reputation boost. The more reputation you get, the quicker you can get the Iron Engrams from rank-up rewards.
