Connor Zilisch cruised to victory in the Mission 200 at The Glen NASCAR Xfinity Series race, but it was far from easy until the final few laps.
Zilisch drove away from Sam Mayer and Sammy Smith after a restart with four laps to go following a big multi-car crash that occurred when Austin Hill spun Michael McDowell at the fastest, tightest part of the track between the wide turn coming out of the bus stop and turn 6. McDowell (and the tire barrier) shot out back into the middle of the track and collected more than 10 cars.
The third Zilisch-SVG bout went to the 19-year-old when Zilisch made contact with his teammate, sending the No. 9 Chevrolet into the wall with 18 laps to go.
Zilisch earned his sixth win of the season and is in prime position to start the playoffs with the most playoff points next month.
