As expected, FC Barcelona have officially announced that they have activated the option to make the transfer of teenage forward Hamza Abdelkarim from Al Ahly permanently.
Signed from the Egyptian outfit in February on loan with an €1.5 million buy clause, plus add-ons, the 18-year-old striker made a big impression with the Catalans’ Juvenil A side.

Happy with his performances and development, Barça have now triggered the buy clause and tied Hamza down to a contract until 2029.
“FC Barcelona has informed Al Ahly that it has exercised its option to purchase Hamza Abdelkarim,” the club statement read.
“The Egyptian forward will permanently join the club, signing a three-year contract until June 30, 2029.”
In his short time at the club, Hamza made 11 appearances across all competitions for Juvenil A, scoring six goals in that time, including a brilliant hat-trick in the 9-0 demolition of Montecarlo.
The 18-year-old striker is currently with the Egyptian national team competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has participated in both matches against Belgium and New Zealand.

Once he returns, Hamza is expected to become a part of Barcelona’s reserve team setup, Barça Atletic, under Juliano Belletti.
However, it is not ruled out that the teenager will do pre-season with the first-team squad under the orders of Hansi Flick.
