After 424 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts, five runner-up finishes and years of grinding away in the sport, Ryan Sieg finally got his moment Friday night at Daytona.
And man, was it worth the wait.

Sieg won the Winn-Dixie 250 in overtime, holding off Austin Hill and Carson Kvapil to score the first O’Reilly Series victory of his career.
But what makes this story even better is the car.
Sieg wasn’t driving his familiar No. 39. He gave that entry to Andy Jankowiak for the Daytona race and climbed into the No. 38 instead. Then he went out and won the damn thing.
That tells you a lot about Ryan Sieg.
This isn’t some massive Mooresville operation with an army of employees and unlimited resources. This is RSS Racing, a family-run team built out of Sugar Hill, Georgia, grinding away against the giants of NASCAR.

And that’s why it’s so easy to root for Sieg.
He’s one of those guys who keeps showing up, keeps building race cars and keeps believing the breakthrough is coming.
Friday night, at the World Center of Racing, it finally did.
For a Georgia racing family and a little shop in Sugar Hill, this wasn’t just a win.
It was a damn fairy tale.
