While Steichen confirmed that it is a groin injury for the tight end, he did not give any insight into how severe the injury was or if it could sideline Warren for the beginning of the season.

The Colts’ tight end is expected to have a larger role with Indianapolis this season. The offense will continue to run through, literally, running back Jonathan Taylor, but Warren will be called upon to not only block but also to block quarterback Daniel Jones in the passing game.

Warren was drafted with the 14th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Colts. He played in all 17 games, starting 12. Warren caught 76 of his 112 targets for 817 yards and four touchdowns.

Warren becomes the latest prominent Colts offensive weapon to deal with an injury during training camp. Wide receiver Alec Pierce signed a massive extension in the offseason, but also had offseason surgery on his ankle. Indianapolis is heading into the second week of its preseason, but Pierce has yet to be able to suit up and return to the field.

The injury to Pierce played a part in Indianapolis signing veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen, who was a free agent. Allen provides even more insurance to the passing game now if Warren happens to miss the start of the regular season.

Allen spent last season with the Chicago Bears. The veteran WR played in all 17 games and finished with 777 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

With the tight end dealing with a groin injury, it remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined. Warren could miss a few days of practice, or, depending on the severity, the injury could cause him to miss the start of the regular season. For now, it feels like a minor injury, but it is a situation worth monitoring.
