The 2025 French Open is winding down as the tournament draw has already reached the semifinals. We should be in for a treat at Roland-Garros as the American Coco Gauff takes on the French Lois Boisson, playing in front of her home country crowd.

Gauff was seeded as the No. 2 women’s singles player in the tournament draw. She was second only to Iga Swiatek, who not only has made the other semifinal match, but has won three consecutive French Opens. Gauff is the top-seeded American and is looking for her first French Open title. She lost to Swiatek in the finals in 2022 and then to her again in last year’s semifinals. A win against Boisson would give Gauff her second career French Open Finals berth.

Boisson has become a fan favorite this year. The 22-year-old was born in Dijon, France and debuted on the WTA Tour in 2021 when she was 18. Boisson has very limited major experience, only partaking in the French Open from 2021-2023. She missed the 2024 French Open due to a torn ACL. Boisson had previously never made it out of qualifiers, but will now be taking on Gauff in the semifinals. Even if she were to lose, this would already be the best result of her career by far, and she has cemented herself as a rising star in the sport.
