Chivas tied 2-2 against Charlotte FC in a match that seemed to be under control, and although they won the extra point in penalties, their chances of advancing in the Leagues Cup were seriously compromised.

Now, the Flock depends on a victory in the last matchday and other results to stay alive in the tournament.

The match started uphill for the Guadalajara team, with an own goal by ‘Tiba’ Sepúlveda in the 11th minute after a shot by Abada.

However, Chivas quickly reacted with a great goal from Richard Ledezma from outside the area in the 24th minute, which tied the score and restored confidence to the team.

From the tie, Chivas took control of the match. Bryan González scored the 2-1 after a great play by Alan Mozo, and together with Efraín Álvarez generated constant danger.

The red-and-white dominance promised a victory, but the lack of effectiveness prevented closing the result.

Charlotte rescued the tie in the 90th minute after an error by Tala Rangel, which Kerwin Vargas took advantage of for the final 2-2.

In the penalties, Chivas was more accurate and took the extra point, but qualification remains a distant feat if they don’t improve their ability to close out matches.
