In a battle between two of the game’s best big men and brightest young stars, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chet Holmgren outdueled the San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama en route to leading his team to a 105-93 win.
Holmgren finished with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 28 minutes. Meanwhile, Wembanyama struggled through an off-night, scoring a career-low six points on 1-of-5 shooting while adding eight rebounds and three blocks.
These two are certainly bound to have a host of battles as their careers move forward, and the rivalry already has a little juice in its early stages.
But right now, Holmgren is 5-1 against Wemby lifetime, and the current edge goes to OKC.
The former Gonzaga star had his fair share of highlights on both ends, including two blocks on one possession.
This game was never seriously in doubt after halftime, with the Thunder winning by seven or more over the final two quarters.
Fans were undoubtedly impressed with Holmgren’s efforts.
