Chase Elliott was in New York City on Thursday making the rounds on various programs promoting the upcoming Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway in August.
In addition to talking about the MLB game, he promoted the night race at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile and discussed the NASCAR Cup Series returning from its lone off-weekend of the 2025 campaign to race on Sunday at Talladega.
During an interview on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, the Hendrick Motorsports driver talked about his promotional tour through The Big Apple as well as yesterday’s news on the various format changes in the upcoming All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro, including an additional 50 laps and the “Promoter’s Caution, which is a competition yellow that NASCAR can put out at any point in the race before the final 50 laps. It can only be used once.
“Yeah, I mean, I’m not opposed to it,” Elliott said. “I think that there’s been some questionable cautions thrown in the course of the history of the sport in general. So I’d just as soon know that that’s coming and that’s the plan beforehand that they have one that they’re gonna throw that they’ve announced is gonna be for entertainment purposes.
“I’m cool with that. I have no issues with it. That race to me is all about just having fun and putting on a good show. And if the show looks like it needs help, then they have something in their pocket to help it be entertaining.”
