Charlie Woods will enter the final round of the 49th Junior PGA Championships in contention for one of the final remaining places on the United States Junior Ryder Cup team.

Woods, a rising junior at the Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, is tied for second place (12-under) after the third round on July 31 at Purdue University’s Ackerman-Allen Course in West Lafayette, Indiania.

He is seven shots back of tournament leader Lunden Esterline, who is 19-under overall for the tournament.

The final two qualifying places on the 2025 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team are up for grabs this week at the 49th Junior PGA Championships.

The winner and runner-up from the boys and girls tournaments will each be guaranteed a place on the team as long as they are eligible.

The 13th Junior Ryder Cup will be contested from Sept. 23-25, 2025 at Nassau Country Club and Bethpage Black in New York.

While Esterline has created separation from the field, Woods will have to fend off significant competition for the second and final position in Friday’s final round.

He’s tied with North Carolina’s Pennson Badgett at 12-under and a dozen more golfers are within four shots of the runner-up place.
