The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have gone from counted out after two weeks to No. 16 in the AP poll.
Notre Dame moved up five spots in Sunday’s AP poll after a win over the Boise State Broncos.
There’s a real possibility that Notre Dame finishes 10-2, which would then put it in position to make the 12-team field, especially if the SEC’s top programs cannibalize themselves.
Marcus Freeman’s team doesn’t have the opportunity to earn a quality win with no Top 25 teams on its remaining schedule, but it’ll be hard to keep the Irish out of the top 12 at 10-2 with losses to the Miami Hurricanes and Texas A&M Aggies, two current top-five teams.
