Carlisle Country Club, dating back to 1924 in central Pennsylvania, has retained Fry Straka Global Golf Course Design to consult on upcoming renovations to its golf course. It’s part of a multi-million-dollar master plan that will include a comprehensive renovation of the clubhouse, which is in a barn that dates back more than 100 years.

The first step in the renovation to the private course will be retrofitting an antiquated irrigation system. More enhancements can be expected after that as part of a long-range plan.

“We are very excited to be back in central PA and working with Carlisle Country Club to help them navigate these course enhancements over time,” Jason Straka, partner at Fry Straka Global Golf Course Design, said in a media release announcing the project. “The golf course is a wonderful parkland design with many golden age architectural features that we hope to enhance over time.”

Carlisle Country Club was recently acquired by a group of local businessmen led by entrepreneur Mark Toigo.

“We really want to modernize the club, shifting away from the traditional country club model and atmosphere to a more vibrant and modern club experience, attracting more youth, families and young professionals,” Toigo said in the media release. “Like all capital projects, the clubhouse needs time updating and modernizing, bringing modern technology and design benefits. It will be a multi-year process that will be very exciting for the membership.”

Plans for the clubhouse include a sports bar, golf simulators and fresh outdoor areas. The golf shop also will be moved into the clubhouse.
