Canelo Alvarez is a former undisputed super middleweight champion. The now-unified champion looks to become whole again when he faces IBF title holder William Scull on May 3 for all the gold. The fight in Saudi Arabia airs on DAZN PPV worldwide.
Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs) only needed eleven months to become undisputed at super middleweight. The four-division champion failed to face Scull, the IBF mandatory at the time, and was stripped of the belt. He is on a five-fight win streak, schooling Edgar Berlanga in September.
The 34-year-old competes in his first of many fights under the Riyadh Season banner and first outside North America. Canelo looks to enhance his Hall of Fame-worthy legacy by becoming a two-time undisputed champion.

“This is important for me because Mexican fighters go to other countries as opponents. Now I’m here as the ‘A-side’ in Saudi Arabia and that opens the door to other fighters from Mexico, and I’m proud to do that for my country,” Canelo said.
Scull (23-0, 9 KOs) beat Vladimir Shishkin to win the IBF belt. Competing primarily in Germany, “El Indomable” has nine wins via knockout. A massive underdog, Scull looks to shock the world on fight night.
“I have the utmost respect for Canelo, but I’m here for one reason and that’s to win. That’s it. I’m gonna eat him,” Scull said. “I’m focused on what I have to do. I’m very excited because I’m here to shut some mouths and do exactly what I need to do on Saturday.”
Cruiserweight gold is on the line, a rematch looks to steal the show, and an entertaining heavyweight returns on the Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull undercard.

Mikaeljan (27-2) won the belt in 2023 but was named “champion in recess” by the WBC. He has 12 wins via knockout and also looks to end a long layoff by securing championship gold.
Jaime Munguia vs. Bruno Surace 2
- Division/Weight: Super Middleweight
- Munguia record: 44-2
- Surace record: 26-0-2
- Belts at stake: N/A

Munguia (44-2) had big wins against Sergiy Derevyanchenko and John Ryder before losing against Canelo last May. He rebounded in September before facing Surace in December. The 28-year-old wants to return to form and prove the loss was a fluke.
It won’t be easy, as Surace (26-0-2) landed a perfect right hand onto Munguia’s chin late in the first fight, dropping the former champion to the canvas for the knockout win. It was the biggest win of the French fighter’s career and fifth via knockout.
Martin Bakole vs. Efe Ajagba

Bakole (21-2) had a ten-fight win streak snapped after taking a last-minute fight against Joseph Parker in February. The 33-year-old has 16 wins via knockout and is ranked 10th by the IBF. He looks to return to form in what has already been a busy 2025.

Aaron (11-3-1) is 2-2 in his last four fights and competes outside Mexico for the second time in his career.
