Cameron Young picked up another big payday and went to the top of the PGA Tour money list.

Young’s second victory of the season, at the Cadillac Championship at Doral on May 3, earned a $3.6 million first-place check and he now has more than $11 million for the season. Along with the $4.5 million he earned for winning The Players Championship, Young has $8.1 million from his two victories, more than 71 percent of his total earnings.

Cameron Young hits onto the second hole of the Doral Blue Monster Course during the final round of the Cadillac Championship on May 3.

Scottie Scheffler, who posted his third consecutive runner-up finish, is second with more than $10.5 million. He’s earned $6.75 million for those three seconds.

Another signature event coming up

The cash grab continues with another signature event this week, the Truist Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. The purse and first-place check ($20 million $3.6 million) are the same as the Cadillac Championship but Young’s lead might be safe.

Scheffler isn’t playing this week and No. 3 Matt Fitzpatrick (who skipped the Cadillac and dropped from first to third on the money list) is the only player who can catch Young, since he’s less than $750,000 behind. Jacob Bridgeman, in fourth place, is more than $4.5 million behind Young.

Balance has ruled the PGA Tour vault

This is the 10th week that the money lead has changed hands on the PGA Tour. Young is only the third multiple winner this season (Fitzpatrick has three victories and Chris Gotterup two). It’s Young’s third turn with the money lead, with the first two following his Players victory and his tie for third at the Masters.

Bridgeman has led the money list for the most weeks, six in all.

PGA Tour millionaires

There are now 68 players who have earned $1 million or more on the golf course this year, 34 with $2 million or more, 17 with $3 million or more and 11 with $4 million or more.
