Cameron Young has been in sensational form on the PGA Tour so far this season, but everything finally caught up with him on Sunday at Quail Hollow.
Young ended his week at the Truist Championship by posting a round of 74, to drop down into a tie for 10th.

On paper, a top-10 finish is always a very strong result on the PGA Tour.
However, a very worrying observation has been made about Cam Young just days away from the start of the PGA Championship.

Young was on fire on day three at the Truist Championship, shooting a sizzling 63 to vault himself right back into contention.
However, the 29-year-old New Yorker finally hit a brick wall on Sunday as his game slipped well below his usual standards.
Cameron Young told what to do before the PGA Championship
Johnson Wagner was speaking on the Scorecard Show on CBS after the final round of the Truist Championship.

And Wagner shared the worrying observation that Mark Immelman made about Cam Young during a commercial break.
He responded when asked whether he believes the three-time PGA Tour winner looks a little tired right now.
“Absolutely. 100% he is,” Wagner exclaimed.
“What it takes out of you, even though he won by six last week, what it takes out of you being in contention all week long, wire-to-wire, and then putting yourself right back in it?

“Fatigue was definitely a factor.
“Our teammate, Mark Immelman, was with his group, that second to last group today, and he said it during a commercial break when they were on the 15th hole.

“He’s like, ‘Guys, he looks gassed out there’.
“So I think, to your point, Shane, definitely take the day off tomorrow, maybe go out there and have a light day, Tuesday, play nine holes, and play nine Wednesday, but he needs to conserve some energy, for sure, heading into Aronimink.“
Cam Young’s schedule could cost him
The PGA Championship next week will be Young’s third event in a row.
He has just played back-to-back Signature Events on very challenging golf courses, and now he will be heading to Aronimink for another difficult test.
The best players in the world never like to play three weeks in a row.

Doing so is not only physically demanding but it’s mentally challenging as well.
Now Cam Young has to pick himself up and go again at the PGA Championship. He will have to play practice rounds, work on his game and fulfil media duties as well.
The PGA Tour definitely need to change their schedule next year so that there are never back-to-back Signature Events heading into major championships.
However, even if they don’t, Young must look at these last two weeks as a real learning curve. Winning golf tournaments takes it out of you.
And playing three huge events in three weeks is simply not sustainable.
