Austin Gaugert has a new bag this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge. On Thursday, he caddied for Dylan Wu, who shot even-par 70 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Gaugert gained notoriety as the caddie for Garrick Higgo, who was late for his first-round tee time at the PGA Championship two weeks ago. Higgo was penalized two strokes and ended up missing the 36-hole cut by one. Gaugert had been on the bag for Higgo when he won the Corales Puntacana Championship in 2025.

Two weeks ago, Gaugert had been on the tee at Aronimink Golf Club waiting for Higgo. There were reports that prior to that Gaugert had gone to the locker room to drop off Higgo’s Trackman but he had returned in time and ESPN cameras showed him yelling for Higgo to hurry up, to no avail. Higgo rallied to shoot 1-under 69 in the first round but stumbled to 76 in the second round.

A few days after parting from Higgo, who had Nick Cavendish-Pell on the bag last week at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and again this week, Gaugert took the ride home in a classy social media post and accepted the blame for Higgo’s expensive miscue.

Gaugert, whose brother Alex caddies for Erik van Rooyen, has previously caddied for the likes of Ryan Moore, Patrick Rodgers and Alex Noren.

Wu, a 29-year-old former Northwestern golfer, birdied the final hole at Tour Q-School in December to regain fully exempt status this season. Wu could use a jumpstart to his season – he entered this week having missed five consecutive cuts. He ranks 153rd in the FedEx Cup standings with a best finish of T-26 in the Valspar Championship.
