In a recent report, SportBild (subscription required) claimed that Koln winger Said El Mala wants to join Chelsea this summer. It has been mentioned that the German wide player’s representatives are holding out for a move to sign for the West London club in this summer transfer window.

El Mala’s Impressive Numbers In The Bundesliga

The 19-year-old managed to shine at times with his performances on the left side of Koln’s attack last season when he produced a series of productive displays for them in the Bundesliga. El Mala scored 13 goals and secured five assists in 36 matches for the German outfit in the previous campaign in all competitions.

The German talent is currently one of the most talented wingers in the Bundesliga. Hence, the Blues would do well to get a deal over the line for him this off-season.

El Mala is under contract at Koln until the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Chelsea to land him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Should Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso Get El Mala On Board?

El Mala can make some decent runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to score and can strike the ball with power from long range.

The German sensation did well to add a lot of goals and assists to his game last season. El Mala is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a right-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if needed. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to land him this summer.

El Mala would bring more firepower to Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s frontline in the long run. He is already good enough to compete for a regular starting place at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 19, the future looks quite bright for El Mala as long as he continues to improve with each year. However, Alonso has to give him some time to settle into life in England before he can get the best out of the talented wide player at the West London club.
