Quick thinking by Bubba Wallace and his team! However, Wallace’s chances of winning tonight could be out the window. The 23 team didn’t get the left front wheel fully secured. Joe Gibbs Racing’s 19 team put the wheel back on to save Wallace’s team a NASCAR penalty.

Bubba Wallace can try to salvage his race. But it won’t be easy. He was on pit road for a long time. Now, he has to try to unlap himself and hope that he can get back on the lead lap.

Chase Briscoe’s team was quick on their feet. We saw this earlier in the season, also involving the 19 team. Wallace is saved a penalty and pit crew suspension. Wallace will serve a pass-through for pitting out of his box, though. Still, not the worst news.

This is going to open up the door for Austin Dillon to take over the race. He is trying to repeat his win at Richmond, which was mired in so much controversy a year ago. Say what you want about Dillon, this track fits his driving style, and RCR has found a way to give him a car that works.

Ryan Blaney will now have a chance to run down Dillon. Bubba Wallace is going to have to clean up and get the best finish that he can. Being two laps down at this point in the race is not where he wanted to be as he was leading more than 100 laps earlier in the race. One mistake on pit road and it all goes away.

Bubba Wallace avoids the ‘big one’ at Richmond

Kyle Busch got into Chase Briscoe, and now we have multiple cars on the track, totally wrecked. Busch even collected Chase Elliott in the aftermath, which will cause his streak of top-20 finishes to come to an end. A lot of NASCAR teams are fuming.

Chase Briscoe, Chase Elliott, Justin Haley, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Cole Custer, Ross Chastain, Ty Dillon, William Byron, and Erik Jones were all involved. Just a massive wreck that will change how this race plays out.

Coming off of the restart for the Cody Ware caution, this field was bumping and banging for position. Kyle Larson has some role to play in this, as he blocked Briscoe, which then caused Busch to get into the 19.

Bubba Wallace was in front of all of the chaos and avoided getting caught up in the mess. But he then had his pit road mishap. A tough result for a team that has been surging since winning at Indianapolis.
