According to Parker Gabriel on X, the Denver Broncos have signed edge rusher Ron Stone Jr. to their roster and waived wide receiver Hakeem Butler.
Stone was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft after a solid collegiate career where he piled up 202 total tackles and 31.5 tackles for a loss. He didn’t stick with an NFL roster as a rookie and ended up in the UFL playing for the Columbus Aviators earlier this year. He picked up 5.5 sacks and 5 tackles for a loss in 10 games.

The UFL angle is interesting as that is where the team found Dondrea Tillman – who has developed into a great depth pass rusher. As a late addition to training camp, however, Stone’s chances of making the roster are rather slim. It will be interesting to see if they have a long-term vision for him when they fill out their practice squad next week.
To make room for the signing, they waived another former UFL star in wide receiver Hakeem Butler after a pretty rough outing on several chances in last week’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. His jump ball abilities looked good on paper, but he didn’t quite pan out during the preseason.
The NFL’s roster deadline is a mere five days away now.
