In this week’s Reacts survey, we asked fans which team they’d feel safest facing in the postseason. As you might expect, the results were extremely mixed:
With 97 total votes, the Braves led the way with 27% of the vote, followed closely by the Cubs at 26% and the Padres at 23%. There was a fairly large gap between those teams and the Phillies (13%) and Dodgers (11%).

The Braves, who the Brewers went 3-3 against this season, are an offense-heavy team that has dealt with their share of injuries this season. It seems like Milwaukee would have a pretty good chance of beating them in a five-game or seven-game series, especially if they’re able to get their pitching staff lined up as wanted.
The same likely goes for the offense-heavy Cubs, while the Padres have had a much better offense in the second half, which makes them one of the scarier teams despite fighting for the last NL Wild Card spot as it stands (since the All-Star break, the Cubs and Padres are second and third in team OPS, respectively).
The Phillies and Dodgers are a pair of dynasty teams, as Philadelphia has made the postseason each of the last four years, reaching the World Series in 2022 and the NLCS in 2023. The Dodgers are back-to-back champions and have made the postseason in the last 13 seasons, with their last miss coming all the way back in 2012. They’ve also had the Brewers’ number in the playoffs, winning the NLCS against them in 2018 and 2025.
FWIW, as the standings sit with just about a month left in the regular season, the Brewers own the best record in baseball and would therefore get a first-round bye to the NLDS, where they’d face the winner of a best-of-three series between the Cubs and Phillies. If they made it to the NLCS, they would face the winner of a best-of-five series between the Dodgers and the winner of a best-of three series between the Braves and Padres.

No matter what, this feels like one of the deepest NL playoff groups in recent history, especially considering just how bad the American League is (as of today, the 66-67 Astros would win the AL West and the 68-66 Guardians would sneak in as the last Wild Card team).
