With less than 24 hours remaining before Monday’s MLB trade deadline, Jacob Misiorowski was not in the mood on Sunday to talk about it.
The flame-throwing Milwaukee Brewers ace was likewise uninterested in talking about the rival Los Angeles Dodgers and their blockbuster acquisition of two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.

This is all per Misiorowski, who was asked in Milwaukee’s clubhouse Sunday afternoon about all of the above. Here’s his response when asked about the trade deadline in general:
“I’m good, I’m good,” Misiorowski said while shaking his head. “I don’t want to answer it.”
When pressed specifically about the Dodgers, who acquired Skubal on Saturday, Misiorowski maintained his stance.
“I’m good, you can just stop the question.”
Misiorowski and the reporters at his locker then shared an awkward chuckle.
Why so quiet?
While Misiorowski declined to directly answer the questions, his lack of a response spoke to the state of the trade deadline’s impact on the race in the National League — so far.

The Dodgers and Brewers are the two best teams in the NL, and they left their respective losses Sunday tied with the best records in baseball at 69-42. The acquisition of Skubal was a dramatic game-changer for the Dodgers that significantly strenghtened their status as favorites to win the World Series.
It also meant that the Brewers, who were reportedly actively seeking Skubal, didn’t get the two-time Cy Young winner. And an NL race that most believed already favored a Dodgers team that swept the Brewers in last season’s NLCS is tilted further in Los Angeles’ favor.
It’s understandably not a pleasant topic of conversation for Misiorowski, especially considering that he was fresh off of being credited with Sunday’s loss after allowing two earned runs in a 3-0 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels.
Can Milwaukee recover with a trade-deadline win?
Does this mean that the trade deadline is a bust for Milwaukee? Not yet. The Brewers have so far added depth pieces in catcher Bo Naylor and reliever Codi Heuer, neither of whom is a game-changer or even a lock to make the postseason roster. They previously acquired pitcher Lance McCullers Jr., only to designate him for assignment after two appearances.

Teams have until 6 p.m. ET Monday to make deals, plenty of time for the Brewers to make one or more game-changing moves.
But as of Sunday, they had ceded advantageous ground to their top rival in the NL. And rather than saying something not nice on the topic, Misiorowski opted to say nothing at all.
