The San Jose Sharks make another trade as they acquire defenseman Vincent Desharnais from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2028 fifth-round pick.
Desharnais has already been traded once this season by the Vancouver Canucks. In 44 games this season between the Penguins and Caucks, the d-man has three assists and is a -9.

Desharnais signed a two-year deal worth $4 million with the Vancouver Canucks during the offseason after going to the Stanley Cup Final with the Edmonton Oilers.

The 28-year-old is 6’7, 228 lbs. Jan Rutta was the biggest Sharks defenseman at 6’3, 204 lbs, but is currently on injured reserve. Rutta is also a pending UFA and has popped up in trade rumors.
The NHL trade deadline is Friday, March 7th.
