The first two rounds of the 2026 BMW Championship have put the FedEx Cup playoffs into the blender. Four golfers near the top of the leaderboard entering Round 3 today have positioned themselves to crash next week’s Tour Championship.
The top 30 players in the standings after the weekend will play for the $10 million prize next week. Gary Woodland (No. 31 entering St. Louis) followed up his 6-under first round with a 5-under day to stay one off leader Wyndham Clark, who enters today at 12 under. J.J. Spaun sits two off the lead.

Sungjae Im (No. 40) shot 6 under in Round 2 to get three shots back. Tied for sixth are Michael Thorbjornsen, who’s gone from No. 41 to holding the coveted No. 30 spot, and Patrick Cantlay, rising from 43rd to knocking on the door at 31st. Chris Gotterup and Rory McIlroy are up there as well, though both are already safely through to the season finale.

Round 3 of the 2026 BMW Championship will broadcast nationally on Golf Channel at 1 p.m. before switching to CBS at 3 p.m. Featured group and hole streaming from PGA Tour Live is available on the ESPN app (with a subscription to the Select plan) starting at 9:15 a.m.

Is there a cut at the BMW Championship?
